HISTORY OF F.A.M.E.
The F.A.M.E. (Football Awards Miami Edition) Awards were established in 1967 by the Miami Touchdown Club to honor the outstanding Collegiate and Professional football players in the United States.

Forty years ago Joe Namath was honored as the most outstanding professional football player for his outstanding performance during the 1968 season. As you may remember, while addressing the Miami Touchdown Club three days before leading the New York Jets to a 16-7 upset of the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III, Namath made the following statement: ‘You can be the greatest athlete in the world, but if you don’t win those football games, it doesn’t mean anything.  And we’re going to win Sunday.  I’ll guarantee you.’

As the Miami Touchdown Club evolved through the years and Operation Scholarship gained prominence, the F.A.M.E. award now focuses on honoring the high school football student-athletes in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties for their annual accomplishments.  South Florida is well known for its pool of outstanding high school football student-athletes and the South Florida Touchdown Club Foundation is proud to honor the elite player from Divisions 1A - 3A and 4A - 6A.  Most of these outstanding athletes go on to become outstanding players in college and in the pros.

This is your opportunity to meet and visit with these elite student-athletes from the class of 2008. Join us at the Miami Springs Golf and Country Club on Thursday, April 30th.
